Classic Wedge Salad

A  Wedge Salad is a simple, retro-style salad featuring a crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with creamy dressing, bacon, tomatoes, and blue cheese crumbles. It’s a refreshing yet indulgent starter or side dish.

Ingredients (serves 4):

Salad Base:

- 1 large head  iceberg lettuce, cut into 4 wedges (stem on)

- 6 slices  bacon, cooked crispy & crumbled

- 1/2 cup  cherry tomatoes, halved (or diced beefsteak tomatoes)

- 1/4 cup  red onion , thinly sliced

- 1/3 cup  blue cheese crumbles (or sub feta for a milder taste)

- 2 tbsp  fresh chives , chopped

Dressing (Blue Cheese or Ranch):

- 1/2 cup  blue cheese dressing (or ranch dressing)

(For homemade blue cheese dressing: Mix 1/2 cup mayo, 1/4 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper.)

---

Instructions:

1. Prep the Wedges – Cut the iceberg head into 4 thick wedges, keeping the core intact to hold them together.

2. Add Toppings – Place each wedge on a plate and drizzle generously with dressing.

3Layer the Fixings – Top with bacon, tomatoes, red onion, blue cheese, and chives.

4. Serve Immediately – Enjoy cold with extra dressing on the side.

Tips:

- For extra crunch, add  candied pecans or  toasted walnuts

- Swap blue cheese for  gorgonzola for a stronger flavor.

- Great as a  steakhouse-style  starter before grilled meats!

This salad is all about texture—cool, crisp lettuce with rich, savory toppings. Perfect for a BBQ or dinner party!
